About Us
Parents and Staff for Students (PSS) is a non-profit
organization comprised of Boones Ferry Primary parents and staff.
There are no fees or dues, however, parental participation and volunteerism
is crucial to our success!
Our Goals:
Generate funds to help heighten the learning experience for every
Boones Ferry student.
Coordinate social and educational events to strengthen our relationships
with each other and the entire Wilsonville community
What We Do:
PSS meets on a monthly basis to plan school events and fundraisers,
communicate school news, and approve and spend our earnings. See
“PSS Meetings” for more details.
PSS volunteers and parents support the school through participation
in our primary fundraisers: the gift -wrap sale, the carnival/auction,
and the Fun Run. With the revenues from these events, PSS provides
major technology purchases, classroom support for each of the teachers,
books for the library, sports equipment for PE classes, music equipment,
assemblies, funding for service learning projects, staff appreciation,
and the Artist in Residence program. Your money also provides each
family with the annual student directory, school calendar magnet,
and four Family Fun Nights.
Our Family Fun Nights help bring the school community together.
To begin the school year with a bang PSS will be co-hosting a Back
to School Picnic with BFPS staff on August 30th, this will be an
opportunity to interact with other families and staff before the
bustle of the school year begins. In October, PSS sponsors a pumpkin
carving event, in December, an evening to decorate gingerbread houses,
a night of Bingo in February, and a Spring Carnival in May. These
activities are low or no-cost. They are intended to bring students
and families together for food, fun, and sharing.
Other fundraisers include the Student Store, Popcorn sales, and
the Scrip Program. Our scrip program allows participants to earn
money for the school while shopping for items they would be purchasing
anyways! Scrip order forms come home in your child’s backpack,
you will use those forms to purchase “scrip” in the
form of gift cards from the participating, and the retailers donate
a percentage of those gift card sales back to Boones Ferry Primary.
The scrip program just started in the 2006 – 2007 school year
and has already brought in $1300! The Student Store is open once
per week during lunch periods. The money raised provides an end
of year celebration for our 5th graders. Revenues from the Box Tops,
Cartridge Recycling, and the Albertson’s Partner Card are
primarily used to support the Family Fun Nights.
Many exciting things that happen throughout the school year are
supported by PSS. While PSS helps coordinate these efforts, it could
not be done without both your financial support and your time. Please
take a moment to fill out the volunteer form and return it to school.
Your help, whether large or small, is needed and appreciated by
the Boones Ferry community.
